Welcome to the Village Campus.

On behalf of the HPA Village Campus community, I extend a warm aloha to you and thank you for visiting our Web site. The Village Campus houses our Lower School grades K-5 (120 students) and our Middle School grades 6-8 (140 students).


There are many good private day and boarding schools throughout the United States but few are as unique and inviting as ours. Situated in the beautiful highlands of the Big Island in Waimea, Hawai'i, our school is truly a learning community based on the concepts of educating head and heart as well as one that is intentionally inviting. We recognize the inherent value that human beings possess and the wonderful gift of potential that graces our halls and classes daily. We are truly honored to serve children and to have the opportunity to guide young minds as they begin their formal journey of becoming lifelong learners.

Our learning community is comprised of day students in grades K-8 and boarding students in grades 6-8. Our low student-to-teacher ratio provides us with the opportunity to offer personalized educational experiences for students that emphasize:

• Basic academic skill development in reading, writing, and mathematics

• Acquisition of knowledge in the sciences, humanities, fine and performing arts

• Application of skills and knowledge across the curriculum

• Wellness, character education, and physical education

• Opportunities for leadership service

• Most importantly, developing the potential to think intelligently

The ecology, landscape, and Hawaiian culture, in conjunction with a robust and challenging academic curriculum, enable the HPA Village Campus faculty to provide students with a truly one-of-a-kind, unique education. Regular outings at the nearby Kahilu Theater expose students to world-class performances; field trips to the ocean and surrounding countryside provide students with the opportunity to learn about life in one of the world's most diverse biospheres; and the chance to learn about and live the Hawaiian ' ohana (family and community) makes for a uniquely rich and relevant education.

Lastly, outstanding schools hold at their core a group of talented, compassionate, hard-working, and competent adults.
