The Tenth Head of School Lindsay R. Barnes Jr.




THE HAWAIʻI PREPARATORY ACADEMY BOARD OF GOVERNORS IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE APPOINTMENT OF LINDSAY BARNES JR. AS THE TENTH HEAD OF SCHOOL.

As Head of School at Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy on the island of Hawai‘i, Mr. Barnes directs all facets of school life at the college-preparatory boarding and day school that serves 600 students in grades K-12.

Prior to his appointment at Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy, Mr. Barnes was headmaster and president of The Miller School of Albemarle in Charlottesville, Virginia, an independent college-preparatory boarding and day school. He served on The Miller School's board of trustees and taught at a private school in Virginia prior to accepting his current position at The Miller School in 1999. He is an active member of the Virginia Association of Independent Schools, National Association of Independent Schools, and Hawai‘i Association of Independent Schools.

Previously, Mr. Barnes was a practicing attorney-at-law for 18 years and served a four-year term as an elected member of the Charlottesville (Virginia) City Council. He earned his Juris Doctor from The University of Virginia School of Law and holds a master's degree in journalism from The University of Georgia.
